Measles isn't simply an unpleasant childhood rash. It is one of the most contagious infectious diseases. The virus spreads through coughing and sneezing and can remain in the air after an infected person has left an area.

The MMR vaccine is extremely effective:

1 dose → about 93% effective
2 doses → about 97% effective
